I've recently had to replace my car (my previous one died on the PA turnpike). The sad news was that I no longer have a GF bumper sticker anymore. Is there any chance that I could get another one?
I currently live out of the area (Virginia, to be specific), but I have family in town who I could persuade to go and buy it where ever they may be. Please let me know if there are any still available.
Thanks a lot!!

Message: I'm probably not typical of most Gathering Field's fans. I'm 43 years old & listen to music from the 60s to the present. I first heard of the Gathering Field on local 'DVE playing "Lost In America". Pretty good! Then, "I Believe in God For You". So, I started checking a little deeper, downloading all their songs from Napster, and Man! one song after another-so good. I bought your first 3 CDs and am ready to buy "So Close To Home". I haven't heard such heart-felt lyrics like this, probably since the 70s. I'm teribly disappointed in the local radio stations for not giving you the air exposure that you deserve, but then again, these stations never were any good. They don't have a clue of the gold in their own back yard. I wish you all the very best in reaching your dreams.
I wish you all the success

With national CD sales in the toilet, record execs are looking for the one hit wonders. It is a shame that nobody listens to whole CD's anymore or people would find Billy and the boys on a national label once again.

Message: Some of the stuff in the guest book is crazy. The run that this dynamite band has enjoyed has not been surpassed by many. It’s rare for bands to stay together more than, say, eight years like GF. Although the pace of GF has slowed recently, they still provide top quality shows, and hey, they’re still together, technically – that’s a good thing! Besides, if I remember correctly, there was a new CD in 2001, which included my all-time favorite GF song, “Who We Are”. The posting about the “captain abandoning ship” from the anonymous guy is simply ridiculous. Bill Deasy is one incredibly talented guy, who is destined for great things. I think the other guys in the band may achieve great things in the future, too, just maybe not together. That’s not a bad thing. If Dave or Bill or Eric or Joe can make it on their own, more power to them. It seems like the reality of the music business – haven’t you seen Behind the Music? For the die-hards, remember the great shows: the original CD-release party at the Decade in 1994?; the 4th of July show at Three Rivers Stadium (esp. Divine Intervention); the Clipper Thanksgiving 2001, etc. Any other favorite shows?

Message: I must confess I somehow enjoy the discussion that´s going on on this board. For far too long it has been a place without any real communication. There were the newsletters, sure, but what am I (living in Germany) supposed to do with some tourdates here and there. I sadly go with the anonymous poster by saying that there is a lack of "band-feeling" as far as GF is concerned. There wasn´t any public explanation why Ray left the band, only his picture got replaced by another one (though Eric explained it to me upon individual request, thanks). And the info at Bill´s homepage sounds like GF has already ceased to exist. Don´t get me wrong. I both love Bill´s solostuff and GF. I´ve been listening to them for six years now, having all their records (which took me a looong time). Lost in America and Reliance really offered (and still offer) a guidance through life when various doubts seemed to consume me. I will probably never see them live. That´s why I want to know what´s really going on. Can they still be called a band? I think they owe it to the fans. Or just by quoting one of their own songs: "Can you provide me with a little bit of information?"

Message: I will never forget hearing “I Will Not” at the benefit concert at Soldiers & Sailors Hall in late September or the spontaneous standing ovation that followed it. “Vengeance and justice are two different things/One tastes like poison, one feels like rain”--at a time when vengeance, especially if it could be nuclear, was the reaction du jour, it was a blessing to me to hear these words. If Bill Deasy had wanted to leverage this tragedy—and Anonymous, that suggestion is so grossly offensive and unfounded—he would have written a song that dripped red, white and blue, not one that expressed the unpopular sentiment of being rational in a time of madness.

Message: Funny that the posters with disparaging remarks are those with bogus e-mail addresses. Me thinks that Anon and "anonymous" are probably the same posters. I also totally disagree (and am actually kind of offended) by those remarks about "I Will Not". The song really moved me and expressed my own sentiments. I found it comforting to hear the song in the aftermath of 9/11 and as stated before, the song isn't on an album and was just released to give some profits to the food bank, not for any type of commerce. To say that someone shouldn't write about their feelings is censorship. And I am sure many others were glad to have those sentiments expressed so aptly. That's supposed to be what music is about. Your anger seems to be completely mis-directed and for some other reason than the weak accusations you chose to post. If the band is in fact breaking up, maybe you should be sad instead of angry. (Or rude).

If you're going to post such scathing comments at least have the guts to identify yourself. As for "I Will Not" it came about the same way the majority of ALL songs come about, through the heartfelt emotions of the writer. That's what songwriters do - they write about things that touch them deeply. It's just that plain and simple.

If you're referring to "I Will Not", it wasn't on the album and I gladly bought a copy of the single since (besides loving the song) the profits all went to charity, not in someone's pocket. I don't think that expressing a point of view is wrong and again, the profits went to a local food bank here in Pittsburgh. The only thing proven by your post is that you're an insensitive idiot.

The only shows left are this surreal cruise on a party liner, as if to prove that the band can still float.
Maybe it would make sense to admit the band has broken up, and call the show for what it is - a reunion gig.
The last thing that passed for new material, though it bears a laudable anti-hate message, can also be seen as an attempt to boost a sagging career by leveraging a disastrous tragedy, which I find in poor taste.

We just moved to Jeannette 2 months ago, and in a month you played within 5 miles of our home. Are you following us? I have always wanted to say hi, but I don't want to be annoying, but after your concerts it seems I just can't get enough. I'm the blonde and my husband resembles Bono/with no singing ability.

The first high note for me was no opening act :), the second was Dave Brown's solo (while grinning from ear to ear)at the end of 'I Wanna Be With You'. That pretty much put the show over the top for me for the rest of the night. No matter if performing a new song or an old one, the whole band played their hearts out and a great time was had by all. Message: My little story:
I went to see the Gathering Field play at Laurel Mountain about a month ago. Mother Nature was waiting to unleash a wicked storm of rain and lighting on us any second. The most we saw was a very light rain and some impressive lightning.
I had come to see the Gathering Field, so I was worried the show would get rained out before they played. To my pleasure, they took stage and started to play. My friend and I have been fans for a few years, and we were pleased to hear a lot of our favorite songs from the Blue Album. The show was good, as it had been when I saw GF 5 years prior. I noticed he mentioned Van Morrison and being in love. Neither then nor now was I in love. Next time, maybe. ;)
At any rate, the highlight of the GF segment came toward the very end, during Lost in America. Everyone had begun to get up and walk in toward the stage. I think everyone did so because it was the GF's hit and the end of the show, however, some might have been trying to get better position for the Clarks. At any rate, I was there to get closer to the band. I got up to within 20 ft of the stage and just started belting out the words to Lost in America. I even threw in a few of my own harmonies. Mr. Deezy seemed to have a huge grin on his face from the crowd that had gathered. We truly formed a gatherin field. That last song was wonderful. I could really feel some energy there.
Great job, guys. I hope you come around Ligonier again soon some time.

Any SW female GF fans wanna chat sometime feel free to contact me, i'm very easy to get along with.

Message: Had the extreme pleasure of seeing the guys @ Whiskey Dicks Saturday past. Great show, band was really tight, bills vocals were on fire, daves guitar was talking, eric and ray were putting down the backbeat. Some irritating girls on a bachlorette party kinda took away from the experience in such a small room, but still a great show. Thanks guys.....keep up the good work....listening to your music always picks up my mood.

It was one of the best shows I've seen in my years of loyal fanaticism. They played some crazy old stuff like "Rough Road", "People Change", "One way or the Other", "Glorybound"(!) and my new favorite song, "Blue Sky Song" with Gar Misra (kick ass, Gar!).
Note to everybody: DO NOT miss the June 2 Rosebud show with Bill & 'Spring Lies Waiting' ensemble. If you missed any of the shows @ Club Cafe or haven't seen this show before, you are truly missing something special. I'll see all of you folks at Nick's this Saturday.
